What is a Pediatric Consult?
Sometimes parents have concerns about their child that they’d like to discuss with their pediatrician for longer than a standard office visit allows. Our pediatric consultation visits, usually simply referred to as consults, give parents the opportunity to meet with a physician or nurse practitioner for prolonged visits, so all of their concerns can be addressed.
Most pediatric consults are scheduled for 30 minutes, but should you need a longer appointment to address your concerns, we’re happy to accommodate you. Our goal is to provide thorough answers to all of your questions and work with you to develop a treatment plan moving forward.

If you are planning to have a private consult, it can help to have someone with you who can watch your child if they are young. An older child can sit in another exam room and wait while the consult takes place. You know your child best so be sure to plan accordingly.
Do I need a consult to get my child a referral to a specialist?
You don’t necessarily have to schedule a consult for us to provide you with a referral to a specialist, but it may help to have a longer conversation first to determine if and what kind of specialist is needed.
